What a week can do...
My husband has been gone for almost a week to exciting places like Japan and Hawaii. Of course, we have been at our current duty station for 3.5 years. I have been having the itch to move for over a year now, with no orders in sight. They might come someday, right? So, I gave him my new iPad in hopes for communication that never really came, except in a Tokyo airport, and then none for days. It had been so long since he's deployed, and the feeling of lack of communication between us gave me flash backs. I even keep my cell phone glued to my hip. Scary, huh?
What one week has taught me about being away from my husband:
1. I really really miss him.
2. I don't sleep good at night.
3. My children's snoring and constant kicks during the night is not helping.
4. The constant reminders to myself that it's only a week, and it is not an 8 month deployment. If I told my friends how much I miss him, they would secretly tease me. I just know it!
5. It literally hasn't stopped raining since he has been gone. Until he finally called me, yesterday. Today the sun decided to come out, lol.
6. My oldest one needs me more now when her daddy is gone. So for being a complete cuddle bug, she is in rare form lately.
7. When I talk to him on the phone, I can tell that he misses me too, and it was a much needed break.
8. I get to have the girls all to myself.
9. He had an a-ha moment in Japan, and realized that we wanted orders back to Hawaii... someday.
10. Distance truly does make the heart grow fonder.
Lastly, tomorrow night, I finally get some real satisfying sleep. :)
